Giulio,
This sounds very interesting (and also leads to an answer to your question on another thread about new Hieroglyph projects)
We are planning to “deep dive” on some topics in the coming months (including transhumanism). Would you be willing to share this article with Hieroglyph once it’s published?

I’ve been seeking out articles on transhumanism and manned deep space exploration. Apparently, this was a bigger topic a few years ago (there was even a conference track dedicated to it in 2013)
There’s not a whole lot of online chatter about it now, however. Has this idea fallen out of favor?

Thanks, Arthur! I’m familiar with the reference but admittedly long overdue in reading the original story itself.
This is an interesting writer’s prompt. Keep the suggestions coming!

Here at Hieroglyph, we do our best to abide by Neal Stephenson’s 3H rule: no holocausts, no hackers, and no hyperspace.
It’s a good guideline for the work that goes on here. After all, how can we learn to mak […] -

World Building Around the Tall Tower 9 years, 3 months ago
Great question, James. I thought this would be interesting somewhere in between. Maybe a period of time in which the tower is completed, but not so far in the future that the citizenry is unable to imagine a time without it.
In Stephenson’s story, the construction of the tower spanned decades, so society would have become accustomed to the…[Read more]

Thanks to all of you for your willingness to join this project.
After reading Atmosphæra Incognita my mind was filled with questions about the world around Stephenson’s creation. What’s happening on the other levels of the tower? What social structures developed on the various levels? What is life like for those who live in the literal shadow o…[Read more]
