Kathleen Ann Goonan

Biography

Kathleen Ann Goonan has been a professional writer since 1988. Her first novel, QUEEN CITY JAZZ, was a New York Times Notable Book and is the first novel of her Nanotech Quartet, which examines the personal and societal implication of a functioning strong nanotechnology through the lenses of literature, musical structure, history, and emerging biological change. IN WAR TIMES, her sixth novel, won the John W. Campbell Award and was the American Literary Association’s Best SF Novel of the Year. Highlighted in Scientific American as a “Shaman of the Small,” she has published over forty short stories and contributes futurist visions to venues such as Popular Science. She is presently a Professor of the Practice at Georgia Institute of Technology, where she teaches the writing of narrative fiction and courses about the history of science, technology, and society.
